Provides a "hand-up" rather than a handout by stabilizing families
in crisis.
Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) FSS promotes the economic independence and stability of disadvantaged persons and families. This program helps families to stabilize by allowing them to benefit from employment and other opportunities. Adults are helped to move from welfare-to-work, many for the first time in their lives.
Working as a partner with each client to develop a personalized self-sufficiency plan, the FSS team offers:
- Employment related case management services
- Emergency assistance and shelter placement assistance
- Earned income tax credit and tax preparation services
- Financial education
- Emergency food and clothing assistance
Individuals or families who are eligible must be living
in Central San Diego or East San Diego County and either be low
income, receiving public assistance or receiving SSI.
