

Provide a "hand-up" rather than a handout by stabilizing families
in crisis. This stabilization then allows families to benefit
from employment development, placement and ongoing support. Families
are helped to move from welfare-to-work, many for the first time
in their lives.

306 families/individuals were assisted
in obtaining employment
Over 500 families/individuals received case management services
Who: Individuals or families who are eligible must be living
in Central San Diego or East San Diego County and either low
income, receiving public assistance or receiving SSI
Goal: Promote the economic independence and stability of disadvantaged
persons and families. Helping families stabilize allows them
to benefit from employment
How: Employment services, emergency and shelter assistance,
tax services, financial education
