The Home Start Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) is the next level in the continuum of Self Sufficiency Services. We offer the unique bundling of employment services, financial coaching services and income support services in a lifespan approach to asset building and assisting you and your family to increase your net worth and quality of life over 3 years.
You have a voice and a choice in the services you receive. We recognize that you are the expert on your life and we want to work with you to develop a plan for yourself and your family. We want these offices to be a safe and encouraging place for you and your family.
The FOC provides the following services:
Employment, Financial Literacy and Income Supports services are tailored to the client’s specific needs through a comprehensive continuum of services delivered through both workshops and one-on-one counseling.
Financial Literacy Coaching: A Financial Literacy Coach will meet with you one on one to complete a Comprehensive Financial Assessment (CFA). Together you and the Financial Coach will develop short and long term goals and the steps necessary to achieve these goals. The Financial Coach will meet with you one-on-one on an ongoing basis to provide guidance, support and resources to successfully achieve your goals. Financial Workshops are available on an ongoing basis. The Financial Coach also works with financial institutions to provide better products to serve individuals who have no credit, bad credit or are listed on a check system.
Specific Financial Literacy one-on-one counseling and workshop topics are tailored to your specific needs on a continuum from basic banking and education to the achievement of long term goals such as purchasing a car or a home.

Employment Coaching: An Employment Coach will meet with you one on one to complete an Employment and Career Assessment. Let Us Tell You About Job Club: This is an innovative ongoing weekly workshop/employment networking and resource sharing group. This group provides participants the opportunity to network, build relationships with one another, as well as discuss their job search techniques. Job Club provides an avenue for the Employment Case Managers and participants to introduce a variety of topics for discussion and mutual problem solving including: building a resume; prepping for interviews; the hidden job market; upcoming career fairs; and employment opportunities. Job Club has proven to provide a valuable venue for open and frank discussions regarding job searches, mutual support and renewed optimism for participants.
Access to Income Supports
You will be offered the opportunity for eligibility screening for Income Supports as a component of the intake and assessment process. Once eligibility is determined, the Financial/Employment Coach will provide you with the resources and avenues necessary to apply for the Income Supports for which you are eligible: Income Supports include:
- Low Income Health Insurance (LIHP)
- SGDE Care Program
- Lifeline Low Cost Telephone
- Low Income Housing
Please contact us to begin your journey towards improved quality of life. There are no elibility requirements. Services begin with orientation to the program with the Employment Case Managers.
